South London Doula & Private Midwife Jay

Meet Your Doula

Pronouns: she/her

I’m a Senior Registered Midwife and trained Doula and Birth Keeper, supporting families across London through pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period.

With over eight years of experience within the NHS and five years in local communities in South London, I combine clinical insight with holistic, relationship-centred care, ensuring you feel informed, respected and fully involved in every decision that shapes your journey into parenthood.

Alongside my clinical background, my Caribbean upbringing has deeply shaped the way I approach care; with an emphasis on warmth, attentive listening and holding space for families in a way that feels both respectful and affirming. I am often described as calm, intuitive and a strong listener, bringing a grounding presence into the birth space. Many of the families I’ve supported also value my hands-on comfort measures during labour, including massage, breathing and visualisation techniques like hypno-birthing and other physical support techniques.

Working within the healthcare system has also deepened my awareness of the unequal and often challenging experiences faced by those from marginalised and vulnerable communities. As a Doula and Birth Keeper, I am committed to contributing to a culture where every birthing person feels heard, safe and empowered within their care.

I have been learning, training and growing my skills as an advocate for promoting and improving maternal and newborn health outcomes and have a strong desire to co-curate birthing experiences that make this shared journey your own.

When you’re ready, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.

  • Experienced in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care

  • Advocacy for informed decision-making in maternity care

  • Culturally safe support for families across South London communities.

Choosing the right pregnancy, birth and postnatal support is personal. Below are some common questions families ask when considering working with a London doula and midwife:

Frequently Asked Questions
About Working Together

  • A doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. While midwives are responsible for clinical and medical care, a doula focuses on your wellbeing, comfort, confidence, and advocacy. As a Senior Registered Midwife and Doula based in London, I bridge both worlds; helping families feel informed, supported, and truly heard throughout their journey.

  • With over eight years of experience working within NHS and community settings, I combine clinical understanding with holistic, person-centred care. My approach honours both evidence-based knowledge and intuition; supporting you emotionally, physically, and practically while helping you navigate choices with confidence.

  • Many families choose doula support alongside NHS care. Midwives often care for multiple families at once, whereas a doula can offer consistent, personalised support before, during, and after birth. My role complements your NHS team by providing continuity, preparation, and calm guidance tailored entirely to you and your preferences.

  • I support individuals, couples, and families across London and the UK who are preparing for pregnancy, birth, or early parenthood. My work is inclusive of all identities, family structures, and birth experiences. I am particularly passionate about creating safe, respectful, and empowering spaces for families who may feel unheard or underserved within traditional systems.

  • No. I support families planning hospital births, birth centre births, home births, inductions, caesarean births, and most birthing journeys that lie in between. My role is not tied to a specific birth setting. It is centred around supporting you and your experience.

  • Many families reach out during pregnancy, often in the second or early third trimester, but support can begin at any stage; including antenatal preparation or postnatal recovery. If you are feeling curious about extra support, that is usually the perfect time to connect.

  • Connection matters deeply in doula care. I offer a free, relaxed, no-pressure, 20 minute consultation so we can get to know each other, explore your needs, and see whether my support feels aligned with your journey.
